This session will be led by Sandra Bertman PhD, FT Distinguished Professor of Thantology and Arts at the National Center for Death Education. She will be addressing "Art, Spirit and Soul: The Good Death for the 21st Century". Sandra is the 2013 recipient of the Janice Palmer Award from the Global Alliance for Arts and Health and an engaging speaker. You cannot prevent the birds of sorrow from flying overhead; but you can prevent them from building nests in your hair - Chinese Proverb. Sandra will be joined by Molly Carlile FAICD, FACN, General Manager Integrated Cancer Services at Austin Health Melbourne Area, Australia. Molly is a multi-award winning palliative care activist, author and international speaker, known as the Deathtalker who supports people to become informed about death and grief in order to live life fully. The session will conclude with a hands-on arts experience with Marlene Alexander from Partners in Care in Bend, Oregon. Marlene is amulti-talented artist who has a Graduate Certificate in Arts in Medicine from University of Florida. She will teach session participants how to facilitate caregiver art experiences on location. Bring your iPads!
